Kairos is a not-for-profit Catholic Montessori school on a farm in the pine woods of Quinta da Marinha, near Guincho. It takes children from 3 to 18. Younger children follow the Montessori method, and the school is a Cambridge International school (centre PT238). Older students follow the UK National Curriculum in Years 8–10, then take A Levels or the Cambridge AICE Diploma.

The school’s materials are in English, and it has English-language support staff. Portuguese is taught as a first or foreign language. The farm is part of the programme, and for adolescents the school says it helps them “develop independence, confidence” through real work.

Kairos has an unusual two-band fee system, and it says it wants about half of families on each band by 2030. It is openly Catholic (there is a school Mass on Fridays), so it suits families who are comfortable with that.

Children’s House places are offered in two admission windows a year (end of September and end of March).
